About Us

Mars Society South Asia (MSSA) is ​a ​volunteer-driven non-profit space advocacy organisation dedicated to advancing the scientific study, exploration, and public understanding of cosmos, in particular, the human exploration and settlement of planet Mars. MSSA is the official regional chapter of The Mars Society, USA for South Asia. It is the main regulatory authority for annual Mars rover competition Indian Rover Challenge (IRC) and Indian Rover Design Challenge (IRDC).

This uniqueness is illustrated most clearly if we contrast Mars with the Earth's Moon, the most frequently cited alternative location for extraterrestrial human colonization.

International Rover Challenge

International Rover Challenge (IRC) is only of its kind competition in Asia-Pacific which challenges undergraduate students to build astronaut-assistive Mars rovers and perform in Mars simulated conditions. IRC is a part of Rover Challenge Series (RCS).
